The company iSi America Inc. has been forced to recall its Twist’n Sparkle Home Beverage Carbonation System because of an explosion hazard. Several injuries have already been reported in connection with this defective product.

The Twist’n Sparkle Home Beverage Carbonation System is supposed to allow consumers to make fresh, carbonated drinks in the comfort of their homes.

According the recall, issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the plastic bottles that are part of the product can explode when enough pressure builds within the bottle. The explosion causes plastic shrapnel to fly from the product, which can injure anyone standing near it.

In cooperation with iSi, the CPSC has issued a recall for Twist’n Sparkle Home Beverage Carbonation System bottles that were sold in the Starter Set product. The bottles come in two cap/bottom colors, which are gray and white. The model numbers that have been recalled are 1005 and 1006. These numbers can be found on the bottom of the box.

Consumers have been advised to contact iSi to find out how to return the Twist’n Sparkle for a refund or store credit.
