Motorcycle Accident in Lewis County, W.V. Ends with Fatality

April 2, 2012 – Lewis County, W.Va. – A fatal motorcycle accident left a person dead on Saturday, March 31.

WDTV reports that the crash happened just after 10 p.m. on Route 19, near Weston. State Police said that a motorcycle went off of the roadway and crashed into a telephone pole. Exact details of how the accident occurred are not yet available.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal wounds in the accident. He was confirmed dead at the scene by officials. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been revealed to the public.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident. No additional injuries or fatalities have been brought forth in relation to this crash.

The fatal accident is under ongoing investigation by the West Virginia State Police. Officials with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department were also on the scene.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in WestVirginia.
