What Everyone Should Know Before Signing Any Forms for an Insurance Adjuster

Insurance adjusters are going to immediately begin contacting you after your accident. Once the accident has been reported to the insurance companies either by you or the other party, they will begin their process to minimize their cost, which directly affects how you are treated.

The person that caused the accident is the negligent party, and their insurance should foot the bill of the accident, including compensating you for your property damage and any injuries you have sustained.

When a claim is filed with the insurance company, they assign an adjuster to deal with the claim. They will immediately begin collecting information that will help them determine who was at fault and therefore who should be responsible for the costs. Generally, they will interview their insured and base their decision on that and the police report.

We never recommend giving a recorded statement to the insurance company until after you speak to an attorney. The insurance adjuster will try every way to twist your statement into benefitting them and only harming you.

We also recommend you not sign anything that deals with you accident other than a release for property damage only. Before you sign a document you should have it reviewed. Once a claim is settled either for property damage or your injury, you cannot undo what you signed even if you have additional damages or require additional treatment.

Our Process for Personal Injury Cases

Each law firm has a different method of handling personal injury claims. Some attorneys will wait for the insurance company to reach out before they begin your claim. Some attorneys also begin to immediately negotiate without having all of your medical bills or before you even fully recover.

At The Miley Legal Group, we prefer a different method. We want to ensure that you are fully recovered and you get the maximum amount we can get from the insurance company for your claim. Once you sign with our firm, we will immediately contact all parties, including the insurance company and your medical providers, to let them know that you are now represented and that they should contact us. The not only eliminates the harassing phone calls you get, but also helps alleviate some of the billing problems you may face.

Our goal is to give you the time you need to fully heal. We want the process to focus on you and your family and not the insurance company.
