Wyoming County Single-Vehicle Car Accident Leaves 1 Fatally Injured

August 18, 2011 - Wyoming County, W.Va. - A person was killed Saturday morning, August 13, in an accident that involved only one vehicle.

WBOY reports that the accident occurred on Route 10. Deputies of the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department said that a vehicle was driving on the roadway when its driver lost control. The vehicle then crashed over an embankment and flipped before it finally came to a stop.

The driver, Randall Church, 43, from Matheny, was killed in the accident, which he was pronounced dead by emergency crews on the scene.

Church's car was the only vehicle in the accident and he was not travelling with any passengers. No other injuries or fatalities have been reported in relation to this accident.

The reason for the Church's crash remains to be determined. The accident continues to be investigated. All investigations are being dealt with by the Wyoming County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
