Woman Killed, Child and Teen Hurt Atfer Motorcycle Accident in Bruceton Mills

August 3, 2011 - Bruceton Mills, W.Va. - A woman was killed, while walking with 2 children, when they were struck by a motorcycle on Sunday night.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 7 p.m. on Route 26, in Bruceton Mills. The woman, teen, and child had been walking north along Route 26 when they were struck by a blue Honda Fury.

The woman, Carol Ditmore, 41, was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital immediately following the accident. She was pronounced dead in the hospital at about midnight.

The teen and the child, who were related to Ditmore, were injured in the accident. They were also taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital following the incident. They have since been treated and released.

According to State Police, the motorcycle that may have struck the 3 victims has been found outside of a Bruceton Mills Bar. A suspect has been apprehended and is expected to face criminal charges in the near future.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
