Woman Hospitalized After Hit by Pickup Truck in Huntington

November 21, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - A woman was hospitalized after she was struck by a pickup truck on Saturday night, November 19.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on 5^th Avenue, close by 21^st Street. According to officials with the Huntington Police, the woman seems to have been attempting to walk across the street when she was hit by an oncoming pickup truck.

The woman was injured in the accident. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Her medical condition is unknown, but officials said that her injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

The identities of the injured woman and the driver that hit her have not yet been released to the public. There has been no word on whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this accident.

The crash is under the stages of investigation by local authorities.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
