Woman Dies, 4 Others Injured in 2- Vehicle Car Accident Near Pennsboro

October 3, 2011 - Pennsboro, W.Va. - A woman was killed and 4 were injured in a car accident on Saturday, October 1.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. at an intersection on Route 50. A vehicle driven by Edna Snavely, 41, of Middlebourne, was attempting to make a turn across the intersection when it was struck by a second vehicle.

Snavely was killed in the accident and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were 3 passengers in Snavely's vehicle who were also injured in the accident. The 3 victims were transported to a hospital in Parkersburg to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The female driver of the car that hit Snavely's vehicle was also injured in the accident. She was transported to a local hospital immediately following the accident but has since been treated and released.

The accident is still under investigation by the Ritchie County Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
