WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 2 p.m. on Private Drive, off of Third Street. According to investigators on the scene, a 2-year-old boy and his grandmother were riding the ATV when the vehicle crashed, rolled over numerous times until it came to a stop on its side.
The little boy was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital immediately following the accident. The extent of his injuries is unknown but officials expect him to be okay.
The boy’s grandmother was transported to Davis Memorial Hospital to seek medical treatment. She is also expected to be okay.
The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released to the public.
Officials with the Junior Volunteer Fire Department and Barbour County EMS were on the scene in response to the accident.
