Victim Hospitalized After Car Hits Guard Rail in Kanawha County

June 27, 2011 - Pinch, W.Va. - One person was injured late Saturday night, at about 11:30, when a vehicle crashed into a guardrail, landing over an embankment, in Pinch.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at the intersection of Trinity Way and Indian Creek Road in Kanawha County. According to Metro 911 officials, 1 person was injured in the crash. That person had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. Nothing has been reported on the victim's medical condition and his or her identity has not been revealed.

Only a single vehicle was involved in the accident and no further injuries have been reported in connection with this crash. The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The car crash is under ongoing investigation by authorities in Kanawha County.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
