Vehicle Overturns on I-64 in Charleston, 1 injured

June 20, 2011 - Charleston, W.Va. - At least 1 person was injured Sunday evening in a single-vehicle car crash in Charleston.

WBOY reports that the crash happened at about 7:30 p.m. on Interstate 64, near the 58 mile marker, in Charleston. The cause of the vehicle to run off of the roadway and overturn on the interstate has not been released.

It was reported that at least 1 person was injured at the scene of the car crash, who has not yet been identified. That person was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victim's injuries are said to have been non-life threatening.

Whether or not anyone else was in the vehicle when the crash occurred is unknown at this time. Only 1 vehicle was involved in the accident and no other injuries have yet been reported. The Charleston Police Department is still in pursuit of investigating this serious car crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
