WVNS reports that the accident happened at around 6:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 77, near the 5 mile marker. The truck driver said that he began to feel strange while driving and then crashed into a barrier and lost control of the tractor trailer.
The truck’s cab was pushed to the end of the concrete barrier, where it separated from the trailer and fell off the highway. The trailer and chassis then burst into flames.
The truck driver was trapped in the cab when emergency response crews arrived at the scene. Officials were able to free the driver, who suffered only minor injuries. The truck driver’s identity has not yet been released to the public.
