WSAZ reports that the accident happened at about 4 p.m. on Interstate 77. An SUV was travelling northbound on the interstate when its driver lost control near the Kanawha City exit. The SUV, which was pulling a camper, rolled and crashed on the median, resulting in the camper getting caught in the guardrail.
Whether or not anyone was injured in the accident is unknown.
The identity of the SUV’s driver has not yet been released. Exactly how many people were in the SUV at the time of the accident is unclear.
The accident caused traffic in the area to be backed up for several hours. All lanes have since been cleared.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
