Single-Vehicle Car Crash in Roderfield Kills 1

June 16, 2011 - Roderfield, W.Va. - A person was killed early Wednesday morning in a car crash in McDowell County.

According to a report from WBOY, the accident happened at about 4:15 a.m. in the area of Roderfield, around the location of the Quick Surf.

Only a single vehicle was involved in the accidents, which lead to 1 person fatally injured and pronounced dead on the scene. Whether or not there were other people in the vehicle at the time of the accident is unknown; however, no further injuries have been reported in connection with the car crash.

The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released and no further details were readily available. The cause of the car crash remains to be determined as it's still under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by deputies of the McDowell County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
