Single-Car Crash in Mannington Leaves 1 Hospitalized

June 13, 2011 - Mannington W.Va. - According to a WBOY news story, a person was injured Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Huey Run Road, near the Huey Run Dam.

Authorities said that a Kia SUV was driving on the roadway when it attempted to negotiate a sharp turn and the driver of the vehicle lost control. The SUV then flipped over.

Two people were in the SUV at the time of the accident. The driver of the vehicle was injured and had to be transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital via HealthNet helicopter. The injured person's medical condition is unknown at this time.The second person in the vehicle was not injured in the crash.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released, though authorities have said that the driver was a juvenile.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by deputies of the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
