Based on a news report on WDTV, the incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Route 32, near Canaan Valley. Officials said that an SUV was travelling on the road when it slid on the ice and crashed.
The SUV’s passenger, a 64-year-old man from Virginia whose name has not been released, sustained fatal injuries in the accident. He was confirmed dead on site by officials.
The vehicle’s driver was taken to intensive care right away following the crash. The driver’s identity is also unknown.
It appears that the SUV was the only vehicle associated with this accident and no additional injuries have been filed.
According to officials, the SUV was driving too fast for the icy, snow-covered roadway.
The accident is being thoroughly investigated by the Parsons Detachment of State Police.
