Semi Runs SUV off Road, Results in I-79 Truck Accident

April 8, 2011 - Clarksburg, W.Va. - An accident in Harrison County sent two people to the hospital Thursday morning.

WBOY reports that the truck accident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 79 near the 119 mile marker. A Ford Explorer was traveling on the interstate when a tractor trailer began to drift out of the slow lane, driving the Explorer off the road.

The Explorer then rolled multiple times before it came to rest in the median.

Two occupants of the Explorer were injured in the accident. The two injured people had to be cut from the vehicle when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Both victims were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

The medical condition of the injured people is unknown at this time. Their identities have not yet been released.

The accident remains under investigation by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department. The article did not specify whether the truck driver stopped after the I-79 truck accident.

Officials from Anmoore Fire and EMS, Bridgeport EMS, Harrison County EMS, the Clarksburg Fire Department and the Stonewood Fire Department were on the scene in response to the accident.
