Ripley Teen Dies after Being Shot by a Pellet Rifle

March 18, 2011 - Evans, WV - According to a March 1 report from WOWK 13, a Ripley teen died after being shot in the head by a pellet rifle.

Larry Fields, 19, of Ripley, died from the injuries he sustained after he was shot by a pellet rifle on February 27. The shooter was Jared Devin Wade Anthony, 18, also a Ripley teen.

According to West Virginia State Police, drugs and alcohol may have contributed to the pellet gun incident, which occurred at an Evans party on Route 1, Box 154. Fields was first taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after the shooting but was then transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he died.

Police have indicated that after reviewing the results from the medical examiner, Anthony may be face criminal charges.
