Princeton Tractor Trailer Accident Leaves 1 Hospitalized

August 25, 2011 - Princeton, W.Va. - A person was seriously injured when a tractor trailer crashed early Wednesday, August 24.

From a WBOY news report, the accident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Interstate 77 on the outskirts of Princeton. Officials said that the tractor trailer was travelling southbound on the interstate when the driver lost control of the wheel and the vehicle went over an embankment.

One person sustained injuries in the accident. The injured person was transported to Princeton Community Hospital for treatment. The severity of his or her injuries is currently unknown. The name of the injured person has not yet been revealed.

The tractor trailer was the only vehicle involved in the incident and no additional injuries have been reported.

The root of the accident remains to be determined as it is under continuous investigation. All further investigations are being handled by deputies of the Mercer County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
