The Journal reports that the incident occurred at about 12:15 a.m. on W.Va. 9, near Welltown Road. Officials said that a vehicle was driving on the roadway when its driver lost control of the wheel, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a utility pole. The driver’s side of the car took most of the impact.
The man that was driving the car was trapped in his vehicle when officials arrived on the scene. Officials described the man as “combative and disoriented,” which are symptoms of a head injury. The man was airlifted to Winchester Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
The cause of the accident remains to be in the stages of investigation. Officials with the West Virginia State Police are covering the case.
