Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Clendenin Car Accident

June 9, 2011 - Clendenin, W.Va. - A man was killed on Route 119, Wednesday morning, when he was struck by a car in Clendenin.

WBOY reported that the accident happened at about 6 a.m. on the 1000 block of Spencer Road in Kanawha County. Officials said that Ronald Reynolds was walking along the road when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Reynolds was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. According to members of Reynolds family, the man walked that road often.

Carolyn Sue Brown, the driver of the vehicle that struck Reynolds, suffered minor injuries in the accident. Brown was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

There has been no word as to whether or not charges will be filed in connection with this car accident. The accident continues to be investigated. All other further investigations are being handled by deputies of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
