May 16, 2011 - Harrison County, W.Va. - One person was hospitalized Friday in an SUV crash in Hepzibah.
WDTV reports that the accident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Friday on route 19 close to the Baptist Church in Hepzibah. The SUV was traveling on the roadway when its driver evidently lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a utility pole. The pole was split in half.
A passenger in the vehicle was injured in the crash. The injured passenger was transported to United Hospital Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene of the accident on foot. Officials said the driver might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but they could be sure.
The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation West Virginia State Police.
