One Injured After Motorcycle Accident on Route 60 in Huntington

April 25, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - One person was injured early Sunday morning when a car and a motorcycle crashed in a motorcycle accident on Route 60 in Huntington.

WBOY reports that the accident happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday in the area of Route 60 and Washington Boulevard in Huntington. According to officials, a car struck a motorcycle on the roadway. Further details concerning how the accident occurred are not available at this time.

Cabell County 911 officials said one person was injured as a result of the accident. The injured person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of that person's injuries is unknown at this time.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The car and the motorcycle were the only vehicles involved in the accident. There were no further injuries to be reported.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
