Nearly 17,000 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles Recalled for Faulty Suspension

January 25, 2011 - While winter brings the joys of snowmobiling to parts of the Midwest, some snowmobile owners may need to check their equipment before hitting the trails.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a voluntary recall of 16,500 Arctic Cat snowmobiles after investigations show a manufacturing flaw in the front suspension arms. The arms can crack, which causes a loss of control and a high crash risk.

There have been 13 reports of cracked suspension arms, although none resulted in serious injury.

The recall affects the following Arctic Cat 2010 models:

Arctic Cat model Z1;
Arctic Cat model TZ1;
Arctic Cat model F;
Arctic Cat model Bearcat;
Arctic Cat model M; and
Arctic Cat model CF.

These models were sold between June 2009 and January 2011 and have since been removed from retail stores. If you purchased one of these models, you may contact Arctic Cat at 1-800-279-6851 or talk to your local Arctic Cat dealer to discuss repair options. If you registered your vehicle, you should have received notice of the recall through the mail.
