WSAZ reveals that 3 vehicles were driving on Route 2, near the North Century Road intersection, when the incident occurred. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies say that Chris Henry was traveling northbound on Route 2 around 4 p.m. when he attempted to pass the SUV in front of him.
Henry’s station wagon then crashed head-on into Robert Evans driving a pickup truck in the southbound lane. The impact caused Henry back into the northbound lane and into the pathway of a truck driven by Bryan Reed.
According to witnesses, as Reed and Henry’s vehicles collided, Evans’ truck struck a guardrail, flew into the air, and came to a rest on its side, about 15 feet under the road near the railroad tracks. Both Henry and Evans’ vehicles then caught fire.
Henry was transported to Pleasant Valley Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Evans was sent to Jackson General Hospital, while Reed was uninjured enough to drive himself and his family to Jackson General to be evaluated for injury.
