Multiple People Injured in 3-Vehicle Car Accident in Beckley

October 24, 2011 - Beckley, W.Va. - An unknown number of people was sent to the hospital following a 3-vehicle car accident on Sunday, October 23.

According to a news report on WBOY, the accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Ragland Road. According to dispatchers, 3 vehicles collided in the roadway. Exactly how the accident occurred is unclear.

Several victims were trapped in their vehicles immediately following the accident. Multiple injuries were reported in connection with this accident. Officials could not say exactly how many people were injured.

All of the injured victims were transported to Raleigh General Hospital to be treated for unknown injuries. The names of the victims have not been released yet to the public.

The accident is currently under the stages of investigation and is being handled by the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department. Officials from the Bradley Volunteer Fire Department also showed up at the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
