According to a news story reported on WSAZ3, the first accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when 5 vehicles became involved in a multi-vehicle pileup, near the Nitro exit. The crash sent 2 victims to the hospital with injuries.
Barely 15 minutes later, a second accident was reported, near the Cross Lanes exit, involving 2 cars. Reports indicate that a victim from this accident was also transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
So far both accidents seem to be independent of each other and police are investigating both incidents to determine victim identities, causes, and other factors that may have lead to these crashes.
