Motorcycle Crash in Putnam County Kills 1

June 8, 2011 - Putnam County, W.Va. - A car crash between a motorcycle and a car left 1 person fatally injured Sunday evening.

WBOY reports that the car crash happened at around 8 p.m. Sunday on West Virginia Route 34, close to Buff Creek Road, in Putnam County. Authorities said that the two vehicles collided on the roadway. No further details concerning the cause or nature of the car crash are available at this time.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released yet nor has any other identities of people who were involved in the accident but no further injuries were reported in connection with this car crash. The car and the motorcycle were the only vehicles involved in the accident.

The cause of the car accident remains to be determined as it is under an ongoing investigation by authorities in Putnam County.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
