Man Run Over by Truck in Huntington

September 9, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - A man who was run over by a truck Thursday, September 8, does not seem to have suffered serious injuries.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 9 a.m. at the intersection of West 13th Street and Virginia Avenue. The man was run over by a Huntington City truck while the city workers were conducting routine flood wall inspections.

A local business owner saw what had happened and rushed to help the man. According to the business owner, the man who had been run over did not seem to have any serious injuries. The man was up and talking shortly after the accident.

The identities of the victim and/or the driver of the truck that hit him have not yet been released.

The accident is under ongoing investigation by Huntington Police. Officials with the Huntington Fire Department and Cabell County EMS were also on the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
