Man Killed When ATV Crashes in Upshur County

December 6, 2011 – Upshur County, W.Va. – A man received fatal injuries when his ATV crashed on Sunday, December 4.

According to the accident report on WDTV, the incident happened at about 11 p.m. on Mount Nebo Road, near Ellamore. Officials said that John Brady, 38, was riding his ATV along the road when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of the vehicle. Brady was then thrown from the vehicle.

Brady suffered fatal injuries in the accident and was declared dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. No additional injuries or fatalities have been brought forth that relate to this incident.

The accident is under ongoing investigation by officials with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials from the Buckhannon and Ellamore Volunteer Fire Departments, and Upshur County EMS were also at the accident site in response.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
