May 19, 2011 - Kanawha County, W.Va. - One person was injured Sunday afternoon when his car crashed into a gas station convenience store in Institute.
WBOY reports that the Kanawha County accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when a car crashed into a Go-Mart in Institute. Jimmy Lee Barnette, 44, of Dunbar, said that his foot accidentally slipped from the brake pedal to the gas pedal when he was attempting to park at the Go-Mart.
Emergency dispatchers said that Barnette suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
There were no people inside the convenience store at the time of the accident. No further injuries were reported.
According to deputies of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department, the accident is under ongoing investigation.
There has been no word as to whether or not charges will be filed in connection with the accident.
