WDTV reports that the incident happened at about 6 a.m. on Slab Camp Road. The ATV crashed on the roadway. Further details of how the accident occurred are not yet available.
The man that was driving the ATV was seriously wounded in the crash and had to be airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The man’s current medical condition is unknown.
The man’s name has not yet been released, but officials have said that he is 59 years old.
The accident is under ongoing investigation by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department. Whether or not alcohol was a factor remains to be determined.
Officials with the Banks District Volunteer Fire Department and Upshur County EMS were also are the site in response to the accident.
