Man Hospitalized after Single-Car Accident in Silverton

July 6, 2011 - Silverton, W.Va. - Alcohol intoxication may have been the cause of a single-vehicle accident that sent a man to the hospital early Tuesday morning.

According from a news story from WBOY, the accident happened at about 1 a.m. Tuesday on Route 56 in Silverton. Sheriff's deputies said that the man was driving his vehicle on the roadway when he lost control and crashed.

The man was seriously injured in the accident and had to be transported to Jackson General Hospital for treatment. His medical condition is unknown at this time.

The identity of the injured man has not yet been released. Only one vehicle was involved in the accident. No other injuries have been reported to be connected with this car accident.

No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. Deputies of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department are still in pursuit of investigating the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
