Man Flown to Hospital after Motorcycle Crash in Mason County

May 27, 2011 - Mason County, W.Va. - One man was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a motorcycle crash in Mason County.

WSAZ reports that the accident occurred at about 10:20 a.m. Thursday on Jerry's Run Road, just a few miles off of Route 2. The driver of the motorcycle lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash on the roadway. Further details are not available at this time.

The driver of the motorcycle was injured in the crash and had to be flown to a hospital in Huntington for treatment. The man's medical condition is unknown, though dispatchers said that his injuries did not seem to be life threatening.

The man's identity has not yet been released.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the accident and no further injuries have been reported.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
