Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Accident near Ronceverte

August 15, 2011 - Ronceverte, W.Va. - A single-vehicle car accident, in Greenbrier County, left a man dead on Sunday, August 14.

WBOY reported that the accident happened at about 2:48 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Monroe Draft Road, a little bit south of Ronceverte. The man was driving on the roadway when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle. Officials believe that the vehicle overturned, trapping the man.

The man was fatally injured in the accident and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

It has not been reported that anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Currently no further injuries or fatalities have been discovered. The reason for the crash remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation.

Officials from the West Virginia State Police and the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department were on the scene in response to the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
