Man Dies in ATV Accident in Midkiff, West Virginia

December 6, 2010 - Midkiff, W. Va. - According to a report from the Herald Dispatch, a man in his early 50s died on Friday, November 26 from an ATV accident that occurred in Midkiff, West Virginia.

Vernon Maynard was found alongside Nine Mile Road about 8:50 p.m. on the day of the accident. Maynard's ATV, which was wrecked, was close by. The report that came into 911 dispatchers was that a man was lying in the road and was unconscious. Responders discovered that Maynard was already dead.

West Virginia State Police stated that they believe Maynard was somehow involved in a wreck with his ATV that caused him to be thrown onto the road. Police said they think that a passing vehicle then struck him, but have not been able to identify the vehicle or the driver. The ATV accident is still under investigation.
