Greentown Accident Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured

August 1, 2011 - Greentown, W.Va. - A person died and 2 more were injured Sunday, July 31, in a 2-vehicle car accident, near Oak Hill.

According to a news story at WBOY, the accident happened at about 4:30 p.m., on Route 19, at Hilltop Road in Greentown. The cause of the accident is unclear.

A person was killed in the accident. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two more people were injured in the accident, one which had to flown to the hospital. The second was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The medical conditions of the victims are not known at this time.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the accident and no further injuries or fatalities have been reported. The accident is under ongoing investigation by deputies of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
