Fiery Stanaford Car Accident on Mill Creek Road Injures 1

May 17, 2011 - Stanaford, W.Va. - One person was taken to the hospital early Monday morning following a fiery Stanaford car accident.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at about 2 a.m. Monday on Mill Creek Road in Raleigh County. Details as to how the wreck occurred or how many vehicles were involved are not available at this time. What it known is that at least one car caught fire as a result of the accident.

One person was injured in the accident. That person was transported by car to an area hospital. The extent of the person's injuries is unknown at this time.

The identity of the injured person has not yet been released. Whether or not there were any other people involved in the crash is unknown at this time.

Mill Creek Road had to be shut down for about 30 minutes following the crash. Officials from the Bradley Fire Department were on the scene to put out the flames. The roadway has since been reopened.

Deputies of the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department are investigating the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
