Evenflo Recalling 14,000 Maestro Child Booster Seats

ABC News reports that EvenFlo is recalling 14,000 Maestro child booster seats due to a serious product defect. This comes after a laboratory test demonstrated that in a simulated 30 mph front-end collision, the child booster seat can crack. This cracking can result in injuries to children.

So far there have been no reports of cracks in the booster seats or injuries.This voluntary recall affects all model numbers starting with number 310. The child booster seats were made between November 24, 2009 and April 9, 2010.

Registered owners should receive a notice from Evenflo in the mail. The company plans to provide a reinforcing bracket that can be easily installed. The company has stated that children who weigh less than 40 pounds should not use the seat until they have installed the reinforcing bracket.

Children who weigh more than 40 pounds can continue to use it with a seatbelt until the repair kit comes.

All models of these recalled Maestro child booster seats have been removed from store shelves.
