Driver Injured in Single-Car Wreck in Wolf Summit

May 5, 2011 - Wolf Summit, W.Va. - A single-car wreck in Wolf Summit one person to the hospital late Tuesday night.

WBOY reports that the accident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in Wolf Summit in Harrison County. Officials said a vehicle ran off the road and went over an embankment. Further details as to how the accident occurred are not yet available.

The driver of the vehicle was injured in the crash and had to be taken to United Hospital Center for treatment. The medical condition of the injured driver is unknown at this time.

The driver's identity has not yet been released. Whether or not anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident is unclear. Only one vehicle was involved in the accident and there were no further injuries.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation by deputies of the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
