April 15, 2011 - Charleston, W.Va. - One man was injured Thursday morning after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing his vehicle in Charleston.
WSAZ reports that the Charleston crash occurred at about 6 a.m. Thursday on Route 119 between Childress Road and Brounland Road. The man was driving northbound on the roadway when he said he dozed off.
His vehicle then drifted across the median. Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies said the man overcorrected, crossing over both northbound lanes and sending his vehicle over a 60-foot embankment.
The man was injured in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. The injured driver's identity has not yet been released.
Only one vehicle was involved in the accident. There were no further injuries. There is no word as to whether or not the man received a citation in connection with the accident.
