The Charleston Gazette reports that the incident occurred at about 11:20 p.m. in the 5100 block of Elk River Road, just north of Blue Creek Road. The pedestrian, Dennis Glen James, 47, was crossing the road, near the Blue Creek Post office, when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The vehicle left the scene without stopping.
James was rushed to CAMC GeneralHospital immediately following the accident. He was later pronounced dead.
Police said that the vehicle in question may be a dark-colored passenger car. A witness said that the vehicle’s tail lights may have resembled those of a Dodge Neon. The vehicle should be damaged on the front driver’s side and headlight areas.
