WSAZ reports that the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of Artisan Avenue. A young boy, about 5 years old, was playing with his friend near the street when he walked out into the roadway and was struck by an oncoming car.
Witnesses said that the man that was driving the car got out of his vehicle to check on the boy before he drove off. Police were able to locate the man, Marcell Woods, 35, based on a description of his vehicle, a silver and black Chevrolet with Ohio license plates.
The little boy was transported to a local hospital immediately following the accident. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
Woods was taken to the Cabell Magistrate Court, where he was arraigned on charges of hit and run and driving on a suspended license. He’s being held on a $17,500 bond.
