Charleston Motorcycle Accident Ends in Fatality

September 30, 2011 - Charleston, W.Va. - A person is confirmed dead following a motorcycle accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, September 30.

According to a news report on WBOY the accident happened shortly after 12 a.m. on Woodward Drive, in Charleston. A motorcycle crashed on the roadway. Whether or not any other vehicles were involved in the accident is unclear at this time. Very few details about the accident have been released.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity currently has been concealed to the public.

There have been no statements indicating if any other individuals have been injured in the incident. The cause of the accident is still under continuous investigation by authorities in Charleston.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
