Charleston Man Pleads Guilty to Fatal South Charleston DUI Crash

April 27, 2011 - Charleston, W.Va. - A man pleaded guilty Monday to charges of DUI causing death and fleeing the scene of an accident.

WBOY reports that Brent Lamar Davis, 26, was indicted by a grand jury on the abovementioned charges. Prosecutors have since agreed to drop the second charge, fleeing the scene of the accident.

Davis will serve a prison sentence of between two and 10 years. His sentencing hearing is set to take place in June, until such time he will be under house arrest.

The fatal South Charleston DUI crash happened in October 2010. Davis was turning onto Montrose Drive from MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston when his vehicle struck a motorcycle. Davis fled the scene on foot. The motorcyclist, Mike Frame, was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he later died.

Police found Davis at a local Hardee's restaurant. Davis was arrested on charges of DUI, hit and run, and more.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
