Car and Motorcycle Collide in Marshall County, 3 Hospitalized

August 10, 2011 - Marshall County, W.Va. - Three people were injured Tuesday, August 9, in a collision between a car and motorcycle.

WBOY reports that the accident happened in the afternoon, at the intersection of Eastern Fourth Street and Pebble Drive. The car and the motorcycle crashed into one another in the intersection.

Sheriff John Gruzinskas said that 3 people were hurt in the crash. Two of the injured people had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital immediately following the accident. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The third person was transported to Wheeling Hospital. The medical condition of that person is also unknown.

The identities of those related to the accident have not yet been released. The cause of the accident remains undetermined as the accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
