Car Accident in Huntington Hospitalizes 5

August 8, 2011 - Huntington, W.Va. - A car accident in Huntington sent 5 people to the hospital Saturday, August 6.

A report from WBOY indicates that the accident happened at about 11:15 a.m., on the corner of Adams Avenue and Sixth Street West. According to Cabell County 911 Dispatchers, 2 vehicles collided at the street corner.

Five people were injured in the accident. All 5 victims were transported to a nearby hospital immediately following the accident. The medical conditions of the injured people are unknown at this time.

The identities of the victims, who were involved in the accident, have not yet been released to the public. From reports, only 2 vehicles were involved in the accident and no other injuries have been reported in relation to this crash. Whether or not charges will be filed is unclear at this time.

The cause of the accident is still being determined as it is under ongoing investigation by Huntington Police.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
