Car Accident at Huntington Intersection Leaves Injury

February 3, 2012 – Huntington, W.Va. – A person received injuries following a car accident in an intersection that involved 2 vehicles on Wednesday, February 1.

WOWKTV reports that the incident occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of 12^th Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard, near Cabell Huntington Hospital. Officials said that two vehicles collided in the intersection. Additional details of how the accident occurred are not available at this moment.

A person was injured as a result of the accident. Officials who were called to the scene, indicate that the victim suffered minor injuries. The identity of the injured person has been concealed.

Hal Greer Boulevardwas blocked to traffic for a brief time after the crash. The roadway has since been reopened.

The cause of the accident remains to be discovered. The crash is under ongoing investigation by local officials.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
