ATV Accident Kills Man in Coxs Mills

February 10, 2012 – Coxs Mill, W.Va. – A man suffered fatal wounds when his ATV went off the road during the afternoon on Wednesday, February 8.

WDTV reports that the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Sinking Creek Road. The ATV’s driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll off of its path and crash.

The ATV’s driver, Leonard Greenlief, 81, was fatally injured in the crash. He was confirmed dead on site. Officials said that Greenlief was not wearing a helmet when the ATV crashed.

Reports indicate that no other cars or injuries have been associated with this accident. The cause of the accident remains to be resolved as it is under the stages of ongoing investigation by local authorities.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
