At Least One Injured when Two Cars Crash on Route 60 in Barboursville

May 2, 2011 - Barboursville, W.Va. - At least one person was injured Sunday in a two car crash on Route 60 in Cabell County.

WBOY reports that the accident happened at 12:20 a.m. Sunday in the area of the 6200 block of Route 60 in Barboursville. Two vehicles collided on the roadway. Further details concerning the nature of the crash and how it occurred are not available at this time.

Cabell County dispatchers said that at least one person was injured as a result of the accident. That person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Whether or not anyone else was injured in the crash is also unknown.

The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation. All further investigations are being handled by the Barboursville Police Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
