At Least 3 Injured in Crash in Morgantown

April 28, 2011 - Morgantown, W.Va. - A crash in the Morgantown area sent at least three people to the hospital Tuesday night.

WDTV reports that the accident happened at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on Fairchance Road in Morgantown. The number of vehicles involved in the accident and/or how the accident occurred is unknown at this time.

Brookhaven firefighters said that at least three people were injured to the accident. The three were transported to a local hospital for treatment. There is no word as to the extent of their injuries.

If others were injured in the crash, those injuries were not yet reported. The identities of those involved in the accident have not yet been released. Further details about the accident have not been made readily available.

The cause of the accident remains to be determined. Investigations are ongoing. All further investigations are being handled by officials at the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 West Virginia Crash Statistics show that there were 356 fatalities as a result of car accidents in West Virginia.
